Headaches are one of the most commonly treated conditions in our office. Most headaches are not medically serious, and the most common ones are what are known as suboccipital or cervicogenic headaches. This means that the source of the pain originates from the back of the skull and upper neck. There are major nerves that exit the spine at this area and they can be compressed by tight muscles or misalignment joints, and when they are irritated, they will often cause pain at the back of the head through the temples or behind or above the eyes. This type of headache typically responds extremely well to chiropractic adjustments.
Other types of headaches include migraines, trigeminal neuralgia, medication based, caffeine withdrawal as well as many other causes. Proper treatment of any headache begins with an accurate diagnosis, and at Flaskey Chiropractic you will receive a complete history and evaluation to determine the true cause of your headache. Depending on its cause, we offer many different forms of treatment, including adjustments, nutritional advice and acupuncture. Many headaches are often caused from poor posture, and we offer training on postural restoration that many patients have found extremely useful in reducing headaches on their own. Call us today to see if we can help with your headache pain.
